Visual Artist
I am a Mexican artist based in Los Cabos B.C.S., I have been developing my artistic production for 25 years in a continuous process of transformation.
A good part of my professional training was focused on areas related to the visual arts, such as drawing, painting, photography, and art in general; this, to a large extent, led me to venture naturally into various branches of art.
In the nineties I took etching classes with the master Juan Navarro and for several years I have been dabbling in digital art.
My pictorial style is eclectic and in general can be framed within figurative abstraction (figurative elements in combination with abstract expressionism). My main influences are prehistoric art, pre-Columbian art, magic and ritual art and different pictorial currents such as impressionism, symbolism, primitivism, abstract expressionism, modernism and post-modernism ... and of course a lot of painters, illustrators and cartoonists from different periods and genres.
My artistic production has developed in a basically intuitive way, from a personal perspective, motivated by a creative and expressive need inherent to my personality. Evidently this has been influenced and enriched by the access to theoretical knowledge and aesthetic conceptualizations derived from my reality as a contemporary man, from my heritage as a Mexican and as an inhabitant of this globalized world.
During my youth I was assiduous to the art exhibitions presented in the galleries of my city, which allowed me to appreciate closely the development of the plastic and graphic arts in an urban context of the late twentieth century. Since then, and from the formal beginning of my experimentation as a creator, I have nourished myself with everything that has been within my reach to continue evolving in the creation of a plastic language.
My work, therefore, reflects both my personal interest in the creation of an original language of my own, as well as the connection of my work to the reality in which I live; reflecting sometimes subjectively and sometimes intentionally, aspects that I consider important for the understanding of my existence and that of my environment.
